The EU stressed that Russia planned to embroil the countries of Europe because of the migration crisis.

The European Union will not introduce quotas for refugees from Ukraine, as it used to be with the Syrians.

This was stated by European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson in interview with The Outside World.

“We meet with the Commission and governments twice a week and discuss the situation. Member States can say how many people they can accommodate. Other Member States say what their needs are. This a new way of approaching the situation, without mandatory quotas,” said Johansson.

The European Commissioner added that Russia will not be able to quarrel the EU countries due to the migration crisis caused by the war of the Russian Federation against in Ukraine.

“Putin is frustrated because he thought that migration could divide us, but we have shown a unity that has never existed before. We have succeeded in launching the Temporary Protection Directive, which has never been used in 20 years. We made a unanimous decision with the ministers of the interior within a few days to implement it,” said Ylva Johanson.
