The European Union proposes to create its own analogue of NATO

by alex

Europe needs a military alliance so as not to depend on the results of the US elections.

The President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola said that the European Union should create its own security organization that would operate according to the principles of NATO.

The publication elMundo writes about this.

She noted that the European Union must always be stronger, more consistent and more effective.

“I say the same thing when it comes to creating, for example, a real security and defense union. The union that we have long demanded, which would complement NATO and would not compete with the alliance,” Metsola said.

She noted that Europe is on the brink of an emergency due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, so the European Union must be prepared for any developments, regardless of who will be president USA.

“There will be a new president in January, and therefore a new administration. There will also be a new Senate and a new Congress, which are our counterparts when it comes to voting on financial aid for Ukraine. I hope that we can continue to work together, she noted.

Recall that it was previously reported that EU residents were urged to stock up on food and medicine in case of war with Russia.

In addition, we previously reported that The European Commission is preparing a report on the progress of candidate countries for EU accession.
