Moldova offered assistance to Transnistria, one separatist government refused it.
The European Commission called on the separatist authorities in Transnistria to accept assistance from Moldova to provide the region with energy resources from alternative sources after the suspension of supplies from Russia's Gazprom.
This was stated by EU representative Anita Hipper, reports Politico.
The European Commission stated that Moldova offered assistance to Transnistria, but one separatist government refused it.
“We encourage Tiraspol to cooperate with Chisinau to resolve the situation in the interests of the local population,” Hipper said.
On Monday, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean accused Moscow of inciting confrontation.
“This is a crisis that Russia is trying to provoke in the region, using energy as a weapon,” he said.
He said Russia controls the region and does not allow it to help destabilize the situation. In addition, he added that this situation could lead to the end of the self-proclaimed independence of Transnistria.
Recall that it was previously reported that Moldova told how Tiraspol responded to the offer to help with the purchase of gas.
In addition, we previously reported that Moldova urgently disconnects villages under its control from the Transnistria power grid.
