The European Commission allowed Russia to transport sanctioned goods by rail to the Kaliningrad region

The transit of some Russian goods to Kaliningrad was stopped after the entry into force of EU sanctions.

The European Commission allowed Russia to transport sanctioned goods by rail to and from the Kaliningrad region through the territory of the EU.

At the same time, despite the updated rules, the transit of military goods and technologies remains prohibited .

In the instruction published by the Commission, it is stated that the EU countries should monitor the “trade” between mainland Russia and the Kaliningrad region.

“The level of trade should correspond to its average for the last three year,” the document says.

Goods subject to sanctions, such as timber, metal, etc., but transported to or from Kaliningrad not for export, can be transported by rail. Trade by road is prohibited.

EU member states are also recommended to maintain close communication on transit and compliance with the sanctions regime against Russia.

Note that representatives of Lithuania and the European Commission held consultations on the transit of sanctioned goods to the Kaliningrad region after Russia's outrage over restrictions on various goods.

Recall that earlier the Russian political scientist said that Vladimir Putin will end his rule, like other dictators – it will be either political death or physical death.
