The leaders of the countries of the European Union are already preparing a third package of sanctions against Russia due to its military operation in the Donbass and the recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DNR and LNR). In addition, the source claims that, perhaps, the countries of the association are planning to freeze the foreign assets of high-ranking Russian officials.
“We are trying to take action as quickly as we can,” the source said. According to him, the third package of sanctions may affect both the financial and energy sectors of Russia. However, he could not specify when exactly the new measures would be introduced. It is alleged that the issue of stopping coal imports by Poland from the Donbass was also discussed at one of the meetings of representatives of the EU countries.
