The European Union will expand sanctions for human rights violations, they will affect a number of countries, including those imposed against persons from Russia. This was reported to RIA Novosti by a source in the European Union.
“The sanctions passed on March 2 were the first but not the last in the global regime for human rights violations. The EU Council is working on the inclusion of new persons involved in this sanctions regime, which will be approved as soon as possible, ”said the agency's interlocutor.
The source did not provide details: he did not comment on earlier reports that citizens of China, Russia, North Korea, Eritrea, Libya and South Sudan would be included in the new list of those involved in human rights violations. The media wrote about this on March 11.
In early March, it became known that the US and British authorities were preparing new sanctions against Russia. According to Bloomberg, the measures may include the inclusion of Russian businessmen on the sanctions list, so far not featured on it. The Kremlin confirmed that they are preparing for such actions by the West. Against the background of this information, the ruble exchange rate naturally collapsed.
