Russian troops were afraid of direct contact with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Therefore, the enemy resorted to the criminal tactics of shelling peaceful cities.
This was stated in an address to the Ukrainians by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov.
He recalled that the defense of Ukraine has been going on for the seventh day. According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, the enemy is trying to keep the combat capability of his units.
“But it gets worse and worse. This is evidenced by the repeated surrender of groups of Russian soldiers with officers. As well as refusals to continue the offensive. In Russia, relatives of the prisoners and the dead are beginning to go out to protest. The total lies of Russian propaganda are cracking. The enemy was afraid of direct contact with the Ukrainian defenders and defenders. Therefore, he switched to the criminal tactics of remote shelling of peaceful cities,” Reznikov emphasized.
The Minister, in particular, recalled that the enemy shelled the city of Zhytomyr at night. According to Reznikov, the enemy tried to avenge the successful completion of the mission by the 95th brigade in the zone of the Joint Forces Operation. The enemy was aiming at the barracks of the brigade, as well as at nearby residential buildings.
In addition, many other Ukrainian cities and villages, in particular Kharkov, Mariupol and Kherson, are suffering from enemy shelling.
– Air strikes and missiles from the territory of Russia and Belarus on residential buildings and schools, shelling of maternity hospitals from the MLRS – this is the cowardly behavior of those who have no honor. These are not the military – these are terrorists, representatives of a terrorist state. And this stigma is for a long time … By attacking the women and children of our soldiers, the Kremlin will not achieve the result it is striving for,” Reznikov noted.
The head of the Defense Ministry added that the Ukrainians are putting up heroic resistance to the Russian troops and will definitely win.
– Yesterday I had a long conversation with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Even the experienced US military is in complete awe of the professionalism of our defenders and the resilience of our people,” Reznikov said.
The minister also informed about the increase in the amount of assistance that Ukraine receives from partner countries. According to Reznikov, the number of states providing this assistance is also increasing.
– The new Bayraktar (strike drones, – Ed.) have already arrived in Ukraine and are on combat duty. There will be more Stingers and Javelins (man-portable air defense systems – Ed.). Europe is turning into our rear and supplying critical defense needs. We are at the forefront of the free world,” Reznikov wrote.
