The world's first registered specific immunoglobulin against COVID-19 has completed its second phase of clinical trials. Now the drug called “Covid Globulin” is at one of the final stages of development – in August, the third, final phase of research started, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, writes TASS.
“Covid Globulin” is a medicine based on blood plasma of people who have already had a coronavirus, and containing antibodies to it. The introduction of the drug helps the body to overcome the disease and “teaches” the human immune system to quickly create antibodies on its own. Contraindications to the use of the drug are hypersensitivity to human immunoglobulin, autoimmune diseases, breastfeeding, hypersensitivity to drug components.
As the site kp.ru previously wrote, the Russian Ministry of Health allowed the treatment of pregnant women with “Covid-globulin”. However, since the drug is not included in the list of vital signs, its use for pregnant women is possible only for health reasons.
