One American official said that the White House supports the use of the word “irreversible” in the final communiqué if the document also confirms that Ukraine’s work on democratic reforms must continue.

“While many Europeans note the need for strong language regarding Ukraine's future in the alliance, US and German officials have suggested using the word “bridge” for Ukraine's NATO membership,” – the message says.

At the same time, a senior US administration official said on Friday that the alliance will make “significant new announcements on how we are increasing NATO's military, political and financial support for Ukraine” as part of a “bridge to NATO “.

Note that US officials publicly refused to discuss the details of the joint communique before the summit starting on July 9.

Senior European Advisor to the US National Security Council Michael Carpenter said at Monday's meeting that significant attention to what the allies will say about the path to Ukraine's membership in the summit declaration is warranted.

“The language will be clear and compelling. It recognizes Ukraine's vital ongoing reform efforts and demonstrates the support of Ukraine's allies on its path to NATO membership,” — he said.

Let us add that the July NATO summit should create for Ukraine a “city for membership in the Alliance” and a very powerful support package.
