The doors to science are open. Schoolchildren were shown workshops and laboratories

Technological and industrial tours for schoolchildren are part of the large-scale project “Science. Territory of Heroes “. From 26 to 30 July 2021, students were able to visit more than 30 high-tech enterprises in 21 regions of Russia. This is GKNPTs them. M.V. Khrunichev (part of the state corporation Roscosmos), enterprises of the RUSNANO group, MCC EuroChem, United Metallurgical Company, Russian Railways and other organizations. Their employees conducted excursions to key sites, told about the specifics of their profession and gave the children the opportunity to test professional equipment and simulators. Talented schoolchildren, finalists and winners of the All-Russian competition “Big Change” (the project of the presidential platform “Russia – the Land of Opportunities”) talked with engineers and technologists, programmers and other specialists.

How to see the “brain” of production

Some subdivisions of Russian Railways invited the participants of the excursions to ride in the carriages of trains of children's railways, as well as to try themselves in the role of guides, inspectors, machinists, assistant machinists, station attendants, and car inspectors. At the EuroChem-North-West enterprise, schoolchildren were shown a new ammonia production facility – state-of-the-art, energy-efficient and digital. The students saw the “brain” of the entire production – the central control panel, as well as laboratories where all analyzes are carried out. MCC EuroChem is a manufacturer and supplier of fertilizers and industrial products, providing farmers with everything they need to increase the yield and quality of crops.

Specialists of the Space Center. M.V. Khrunichev conducted excursions around their museum. Children could see the models of rocket and space technology, the original cosmonaut's chair and the control panel of the orbital manned station “Almaz”. The history of the Center began on April 30, 1916 with the construction of a plant in Moscow for the serial production of the first domestic cars. For more than a century of history, the enterprise has been re-profiled several times to address the most important national problems. Today the State Scientific and Practical Center named after M.V. Khrunicheva is one of the world leaders in the development and serial production of space launch vehicles (heavy launch vehicles, upper stages and their systems), as well as large-size orbital modules.

The Ulyanovsk nanocenter ULNANOTECH, part of the RUSNANO group, showed schoolchildren technological startups in such areas as alternative and hydrogen energy, biotechnology and molecular genetics, microelectronics and the Internet of things, new construction technologies, thin-film coatings, composite materials and others. The guys saw laboratories with the most advanced equipment and samples of innovative products.

The Chusovoy Metallurgical Plant began the excursion with a visit to the museum, where the students were told about metal processing technologies. Then they visited two workshops – for metalworking and for the production of springs. Schoolchildren were able to see the most modern factory robots in action.

From 26 to 30 July, the Krasnoyarsk training center for professional qualifications of the UCPK, Sverdlovsk, Orenburg, Krasnoyarsk and other children's railways, Energozapas LLC were opened for students. The action was attended by JSC “Russian Space Systems” – one of the leaders of the world space instrumentation. This holding produces, tests, supplies and operates on-board and ground equipment, information systems for space purposes, including the global navigation satellite system GLONASS. Another participant in the action is the Vyksa Steel Works, the largest domestic manufacturer of welded steel pipes and railway wheels.

Scientists as an example for youth

The excursions were organized by ANO National Priorities and ANO Big Change. This is one of the key events in July, which, according to the plan for the Year of Science and Technology in Russia, is dedicated to the theme of territorial connectivity and space development.

Recall that in December 2020, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on holding the Year of Science and Technology in Russia. Its task is to attract talented young people to the field of science, to help form a clear idea of the initiatives being implemented by the state and business in this area among the citizens of our country. Throughout the country, events are held with the participation of leading scientists, educational platforms and competitions are launched.

For example, a large-scale educational project “On the Edge of Science” is being implemented. It includes excursions to state-of-the-art laboratories, public lectures by leading scientists in schools and universities, master classes on drones and robotics. The career test “What kind of scientist are you?” Is available to schoolchildren and students. Another project is “100 Questions for a Scientist”. On the Yandex.Q platform, experts, researchers and popularizers of science answer the most interesting questions from users. You can ask your question or become an expert at any time.

Another project is Science Nearby. There are many young and already successful researchers in Russia. They create cancer drugs, rocket engines, artificial intelligence solutions, and more. They are the ones who should become examples for young people. For this purpose, billboards with their faces are placed on the streets of Russian cities.

The project “Science in the 360 ° format” is also being implemented – a unique collection of virtual tours around the laboratories of scientific and educational organizations, which conduct research on grants from the Russian Science Foundation. Without leaving home, you can plunge into the exciting world of science and see how scientific experiments are going on.

Detailed information about these and other events is available on the website godnauki.rf.
