Doctor-therapist Konstantin Khomanov spoke about the features of the post-ovarian syndrome in those who have undergone the “delta” strain of coronavirus. TASS reports.
According to him, this syndrome can be expressed in the form of voice changes and prolonged inflammation of the nasopharynx. The doctor noted that those who have been ill may suffer from feelings of chronic fatigue, apathy, exhaustion, decreased productivity and memory. In addition, postcoid syndrome after a “delta” strain can include a lack of smell, pain in muscles and joints, as well as various consequences of pulmonary tissue fibrosis and shortness of breath, the expert emphasized.
The specialist added that the consequences of this disease are manifested regardless of age. Increasingly, the “delta” – strain of COVID-19 is being infected by young people, as a result of which the postcoid syndrome manifests itself in new groups of the population, he explained. Khomanov said that among the young patients who have recovered from the disease, there are problems with the immune, respiratory and nervous systems.
Earlier, Antonina Ploskireva, deputy director for clinical work of the Federal Budgetary Scientific Institution of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, said that gender can affect the likelihood of developing postcoid syndrome. According to her, this syndrome is more common in women than in men.
