The doctor spoke about the connection between mood and the choice of an alarm clock

Somnologist Elena Tsareva told how to choose the right sound for an alarm clock. She shared her advice on Radio 1.

According to her, the sound must be selected depending on the state: for anxious people, invigorating, cheerful, energetic ringtones are better, and for depressive ones, calmer ones, since an increase in anxiety levels in the morning affects the production of hormones. However, in both cases, the melody should be pleasant, she noted.

Tsareva also advised against using the sounds of nature to wake up, since the singing of birds or the noise of a waterfall, most likely, simply will not wake up the sleeping person.

The doctor summed up that the key to a healthy awakening is adherence to a sleep schedule, and ideally it is best to get up at the same time on weekdays and weekends. “Then one alarm clock is enough to wake up,” she assured.

In 2018, American scientists identified a link between not getting enough sleep at night and a high risk of Alzheimer's disease. Those who complained of daytime sleepiness were nearly three times more likely to accumulate amyloid plaques than others.
