Taking antibiotics to treat COVID-19 can make the disease worse. So the harm of drugs was explained by Zaur Shugushev, doctor of medical sciences, professor, chief cardiologist of the network of clinics “Russian Railways-Medicine”. His words are quoted by “Evening Moscow”.

According to the doctor, the large consumption of antibiotics without the prescription of doctors leads to the resistance of bacteria to antimicrobial drugs.

“Antibiotics are used only for cell forms. They do not act on viruses, non-cellular forms. For this, there are antiviral drugs. The use of antibiotics for a viral disease, viral pneumonia can aggravate the course of the disease, ”the doctor explained.
