More and more fakes and myths are gathering around the coronavirus. Recently, scientists from a clinic at the University of Alabama announced that with coronavirus, bacteria can allegedly get from the intestines into the blood. They argue that COVID-19 so badly affects the lining of the gastrointestinal tract that it breaks down the barrier between the bloodstream and the intestines, and bacteria enter the bloodstream.
However, our doctors strongly disagree with this.
– The first thing that needs to be clarified is that in the examined group of patients there were only 30 people who fell ill with covid, and all the studies were carried out by scientists on an extremely small amount of blood plasma that they managed to obtain. And, most importantly, they did not find any bacteria in the blood, they only determined the DNA of various bacteria in the plasma, '' Simon Matskeplishvili, deputy director for research at the University Clinic of Moscow State University, explained to kp.ru.
According to him, the presence of circulating bacteria in the blood is an extremely serious complication. It can lead to sepsis or even septic shock, with a high likelihood of death. Fortunately, there was nothing of the kind in the 30 examined patients.
Simon Matskeplishvili also noted that the human immune system is always on guard and does not let any bacteria into the blood.
