Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria may lead Brazilian Flamengo. This is reported by Gazeta Esportiva.
According to the source, the Brazilian club is unhappy with the current results of the team and wants the new mentor to be a foreigner. It is noted that Vitoria's candidacy has become a priority after his departure from Moscow “Spartak”. Carlos Carvalyal from Portuguese Braga and Vitor Pereira from Turkish Fenerbahce are also being considered for the position.
On December 15, Spartak fired Vitoria from his post of head coach. The specialist has led the Moscow team since May 21, 2021. He is also known for working with Portuguese Benfica, Pacos de Ferreira and other clubs.
Under the Portuguese leadership, the red-whites won a ticket to the Europa League playoffs, taking first place in the group with Italian Napoli, English Leicester and Polish Legia. After 18 matches of the Russian championship, the team is in ninth place, gaining 23 points.
