The representative of the game developer Insomniac Games said that the specialists tested the PlayStation 5 with a “native” SSD and a third-party one.
According to the specialist, there was almost no difference in the results when using third-party and standard drives. It is worth noting that in the first test, SSDs that meet Sony's requirements were used.
But when using other drives with PCIe 4.0, improvements have already been observed. Game load times have increased by 15%, but not always. Despite this increase, keep in mind that using unapproved SSDs can have pitfalls.
Recall, while not everyone can use the additional storage slot in the PS5. Only beta testers now have this feature. The rest will be able to use it after the release of the final firmware.
