MOSCOW, September 1. / TASS /. Developing an unmanned version of a magnetic levitation monorail will take about the same time as developing a manned one. This was reported to TASS by the Moscow Institute of Heat Engineering Corporation (MIT, part of Roscosmos).
“Almost the same as the pilot,” said MIT when asked how long it would take to develop an unmanned version of such a monorail.
As specified in the corporation, the development and manufacture of the version of the monorail with the operator took about eight months.
Sea trials of the magnetic levitation monorail transport system began in Moscow last Thursday. They will last until the end of September.
In February, the General Designer of MIT, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Hero of Labor of Russia, Yuri Solomonov, told TASS that the corporation has developed a magnetic levitation train that can work, including in unmanned mode. According to him, based on the results of sea trials, a decision will be made to deploy full-scale work on the serial production of a new type of monorail transport system.
MIT is the developer of the Topol, Topol-M, Yars and Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles.
