The delegation of Ukraine agreed to conduct negotiations with Russia in the Gomel region of Belarus and went there. This was reported on Sunday, February 27, in the National Press Center of Belarus with reference to the Belarusian politician Yuri Voskresensky, TASS reports.
“According to my information, President Zelensky has just recruited President Lukashenko. President Lukashenko persuaded President Zelensky to save the state sovereignty of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian delegation is now leaving for Gomel,” Voskresensky said.
In turn, the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, also confirmed that the Ukrainian side agreed to hold negotiations on the territory of Belarus, RIA Novosti reports.
On the morning of February 27, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian delegation, consisting of representatives of the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Defense and the presidential administration, had arrived in Belarusian Gomel and would be waiting for representatives of Ukraine. However, later Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he considered negotiations on the territory of Belarus impossible and offered to hold them in Warsaw, Bratislava, Budapest, Istanbul or Baku.
