The Defense Ministry assessed the potential of the Iskander-M operational tactical missile systems. This was told by the head of the Missile Forces and Artillery of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mikhail Matveyevsky, RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, Iskander-M will remain the main complex in this branch of the military until at least 2030. Matveevsky stressed that it will meet modern requirements for a long time to come. He also said that the potential for modernization of the complex has been realized less than half.
The head of the Missile Forces and Artillery added that Russia also has a scientific potential to create the latest complex that will replace Iskander-M.
Earlier in the American magazine The National Interest, mobile missile systems were called the “absolute” weapon of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The observer of the publication highlighted such Russian complexes as Tochka, Iskander and P-800 Onyx.
