Testing the underwater complex, instrumented unmanned vehicles “Poseidon”, and hypersonic missile system “Zircon” completed successfully. This was stated by the Ministry of defense of Russia, RIA Novosti reported.
Carrier “Poseidon” was launched in March 2019. The crew continued the practical development of new weapons on regular media.
In February 2019, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin stated that “Zircon”, “able to hit both marine and ground targets”, will have a speed of nine Mach numbers and range over thousands of kilometers, and the weapon will receive the existing and future surface ships and submarines, including generated missiles “Caliber”.
Officially “Poseidon” was presented by Putin in March 2018. Underwater vehicle equipped with innovative nuclear power, able to move at super deep with unlimited range, is a weapon of mass destruction designed to destroy economic facilities of the enemy.
