The death toll as a result of a missile strike by Armenia on the Azerbaijani city of Ganja has increased to 13 people. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan reports.

“At the moment, 52 victims and the bodies of 13 civilians have been removed from the rubble,” the Emergencies Ministry said.

Earlier, the head of the foreign policy department of the Azerbaijani presidential administration, Hikmet Hajiyev, said that the Armenian Armed Forces had fired a Scud (R-17) operational-tactical ballistic missile at Ganja. According to him, more than 20 houses were destroyed as a result of rocket attacks.

Later, the General Prosecutor's Office of the republic reported that 12 people were killed and more than 40 were injured because of the shelling.

The Armenian Defense Ministry did not report the shelling of Ganja. There they accused Azerbaijan of resuming missile strikes on peaceful settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh. Including in the cities of Stepanakert and Shusha.

At talks in Moscow in early October, Azerbaijan and Armenia, mediated by Russia, agreed on a ceasefire from October 10. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that Yerevan asked Baku for a truce. “Armenia took the initiative for a truce when it saw how they could hold the occupied lands,” he said, noting that Azerbaijan decided to meet halfway for humanitarian purposes. However, Yerevan, according to him, used the truce for its own purposes and attacked Azerbaijan. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Yerevan is ready to make concessions on Nagorno-Karabakh if similar actions follow from Azerbaijan. “Conflicts should be resolved on the basis of mutual concessions. Nagorno-Karabakh is ready for them, Armenia will make mirror concessions if Azerbaijan is ready for them, ”he said.
