Dangerous attributes for housing on New Year's holidays can be low-quality garlands and pyrotechnics. Nikita Yankova, a member of the Presidium of the Public Council of the Moscow Emergencies Ministry's Main Directorate, told the Russians about this, according to RIA Novosti.

According to the specialist, on New Year's Eve, fires and emergencies occur twice as often than the rest of the time. Failure to comply with fire safety measures leads to such situations. “People save money and often use cheap, uncertified pyrotechnics during the holidays, which leads to fires and serious injuries. Pyrotechnics flies into the balconies of neighboring houses and fires occur, and firecrackers explode in the hands, their elements fall on the face and body, ”explained Yankova.

Uncertified garlands were also named as dangerous items, which can cause a short circuit and lead to a fire. Sparklers and candles can also catch fire – flames can hit napkins, tinsel and paper jewelry.

For safety, the expert advised keeping fire extinguishers in the apartment for home use, which will cost 500 rubles. Residents can also practice using the item outdoors in advance.

Earlier, the expert called the rules for choosing a New Year tree. The Russians were advised to pay attention to the condition of the crown, the height of the tree and its color suitable for living. A quality tree will have a slender crown, even rows of branches, and a natural green color. The needles should also not fall from the tree.
