Czech President Milos Zeman announced the “third major embarrassment” of American intelligence after its forecast of a war in Ukraine. His words are quoted by Idnes.
“I said a few days ago that, in my opinion, there will be no war. Because the Russians are not crazy enough to embark on an operation that would do them more harm than good. As for the American intelligence services, this is their third major embarrassment,” the head of state said.
He noted that over the past decades, American intelligence has given the wrong forecast three times already. The first was in Iraq, when allegations of weapons of mass destruction allegedly hidden there were not confirmed.
The second was in Afghanistan, when the US intelligence agencies claimed that the Taliban ( a terrorist organization banned in Russia ) would not enter Kabul. The third case was the announced date of the allegedly planned Russian “invasion” into the territory of Ukraine.
Earlier it became known that the Russian invasion of Ukraine expected by Western media on the night of February 16 did not happen. The Russian troops continued to retreat to their places of permanent deployment, the command announced the completion of joint exercises with the Belarusian armed forces.
As reported by Politico newspaper, US President Joe Biden called February 16 the day of the alleged offensive. The British editions of The Mirror and The Sun spoke not only about the day, but also the time of the attack of the Russian troops – 04:00 Moscow time (03:00 Kiev time).
