Moscow. The 4th of October. INTERFAX.RU – Flight personnel of the army aviation of the Eastern Military District (VVO) for the first time perform flights together with pilots of the Mongolian Air Force on Mi-8 helicopters as part of the Selenga-2021 international exercises, the district's press service reported on Monday.
“In the course of the practical application of army aviation at the Selenga exercise, a new tactical technique called” Pincers “is being performed for the first time. The Mi-24 air link is separated in the air, after which they simultaneously enter a combat course from two opposite flanks,” the message says.
For the first time, also during the exercise, the Mi-8 crews simultaneously practice evacuating the wounded from the training battlefield and aerial mining of terrain in the most likely places of movement of the imaginary enemy.
The exercise program provides for the delivery of tactical assault forces from friendly countries on MI-8AMTSh “Terminator” helicopters to destroy a simulated enemy. The training flights are complicated by the high-altitude (1.6 thousand meters above sea level) location of the Nalaikh airfield, where aviation equipment is temporarily based, and the Doytyn Am training ground.
As reported, the exercise “Selenga-2021” has been taking place since September 20 at one of the military training grounds in Mongolia. In total, about 1.4 thousand servicemen are taking part in the exercise from the Eastern Military District and the Armed Forces of Mongolia.
A tactical exercise aimed at combating international terrorism is being held on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Mongolian armed forces and on the eve of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Mongolia.
