Authorities in Brazilian São Paulo have fined CD Projekt RED. It is reported by the local edition of Start.
The reason for the fine was graffiti painted on the wall of a house in the center of São Paulo. The figure shows one of the heroes of the game Cyberpunk 2077, the image is about 20 meters high. Local regulators referred to the “Clean City Law”, which does not allow outdoor advertisements within the metropolis.

Together with CD Projekt RED, the creators of the popular mobile game Free Fire were fined for ordering a similar-sized graffiti in another area of Sao Paulo. The amount of the fine of the latter was 595 thousand reais, or more than 8 million rubles.
According to the publication, dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077, a huge graffiti occupied two blank pediments of the São Bento condominium, which is located in the central area of the city. Work on the drawing began in November 2020, on January 12, the graffiti was completely painted over by utilities. Reporters approached CD Projekt RED and Warner, which promotes the game in Brazil, for comment, but received no prompt comment.
Bloomberg reporters previously interviewed 20 former and current employees of CD Projekt RED. On condition of anonymity, experts revealed the reason for the failure of the game. The studio has prioritized marketing over product development, they said. Also, game designers were given unrealistic deadlines for completing tasks.
