An English court sentenced Thomas Hughes and Emmy Tustin, accused of the murder of six-year-old Arthur Labinjo-Hughes. The boy's own father and stepmother tortured the boy to death – they did not feed him, did not change his clothes, and for hours was isolated in a separate room, forcing him to sleep right on the floor.

According to the newspaper, the verdict was heard on Friday, December 3. Emma Tustin, the child's stepmother, was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Hughes – for manslaughter, he was imprisoned for 21 years.
During the trial, Emma Tustin admitted to two charges of the boy's cruelty, including three assaults on him and what she forced him to sit or stand in the corridor up to 14 hours a day.
During the trial, it turned out that social workers had seen Arthur two months before his death. Paternal grandmother Joanna Hughes expressed concern, who approached the social workers, but after checking they rejected the fact that the child was tortured.
A high school teacher said that Arthur was “a happy, contented, successful seven-year-old.” At the hearing, the ruined mother of the boy said that the murder of her son had destroyed her life and that her heart was broken.
