On August 11, the Basmanny Court of Moscow placed under house arrest the ex-editor of the Russian propaganda channel Channel One Marina Ovsyannikova, who was detained the day before in the case of “fakes” about the Russian army.
The court session in the Russian Federation was held behind closed doors.
This is reported by the BBC Russian Service.
About this mode The meeting was requested by the investigation, which referred to the fact that allegedly not all the data in the criminal case had been collected to the end.
Note that Ovsyannikova was detained on August 10 after a search in her house. In the evening she was accused of “spreading false information about the Russian army based on political hatred”. The punishment for this is up to 10 years in prison.
The Russian propagandist spent the night in a pre-trial detention center.
The reason for opening the case was the anti-war picket that Ovsyannikova held 15 July on Sofiyskaya embankment near the Kremlin. She came out with a poster with photos of children who died in Ukraine and the inscription: “How many more children must die for you to stop?” On the air of Channel One, Ovsyannikova appeared behind the back of the presenter with a poster of anti-war content and accusing the propagandists of lying. Then she was detained, but later left for Germany, where she got a job at Die Welt.
In early July, it became known that Ovsyannikova no longer worked for a German newspaper and was “forced” to fly to Russia.
