Moscow. October 6. INTERFAX.RU – The Tagansky Court of Moscow on Wednesday recognized the fine imposed by Facebook for the company's refusal to remove content prohibited in the Russian Federation.
“The court decision upheld the ruling of the magistrate, which imposed administrative fines on Facebook Inc. totaling 6 million rubles,” Zulfiya Gurinchuk, press secretary of the Tagansky court, told Interfax.
On July 22, the Moscow Magistrates' Court found Facebook guilty of two violations of Russian law.
In 2021, Roskomnadzor has already drawn up 20 protocols under Art. 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation for violation of the procedure for removing content prohibited in the Russian Federation. The social network was also prosecuted for violating the requirements of Russian legislation on the localization of personal data.
The company's court has imposed fines in the total amount of about 80 million rubles, of which court decisions for more than 40 million rubles have already entered into force.
The Facebook administration did not pay the fines.
Earlier, Roskomnadzor reported that due to Facebook's refusal to remove content banned in the Russian Federation, the department drew up a protocol regarding the social network, according to which the company faces a turnover fine of up to 10% of annual revenue.
