The magistrate of the Tagansky district of the Russian capital fined the WhatsApp messenger four million rubles for refusing to localize the personal data of users in Russia. This was announced on Thursday, August 26, in a statement on the official website of Roskomnadzor.
This is the first fine handed down by a Russian court against WhatsApp. The messenger was fined under the eighth part of Article 13.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which for legal entities involves a punishment of one to six million rubles.
As the site kp.ru wrote, on the eve of the court in the Tagansky district of Moscow, they warned about a fine of up to six million rubles, which threatens the WhatsApp messenger under the article on “the operator's failure to comply with the obligation to record, store, clarify or retrieve personal data” …
