The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, on the initiative of Poland and Ukraine, began the procedure for suspending Russia's membership in the organization. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki wrote about this on Twitter.
“The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, on the initiative of Ukraine and Poland, launched the procedure for suspending Russia's membership in the Council of Europe. There will be a final decision soon,” the politician wrote.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation to protect Donbass. The head of state also turned to external forces that might try to pose a threat to Russia – according to him, the answer will be immediate.
