The iOS operating system will notify the user if the iPhone has been repaired at an unofficial service center. This is reported by the MacRumors edition.

The corresponding function appeared in the latest iOS 14.4 update. If a camera module on an iPhone is repaired at an unauthorized Apple service center or replaced with a non-original one, iOS will send a notification. The message will appear on the smartphone screen within four days after the repair and in the device settings – within 15 days after the replacement.

The journalists noted that the system warnings are for informational purposes only and do not in any way affect the operation of the smartphone or the camera. However, in a message on the Apple website, the company's specialists named the consequences that the user may face in the event of an unofficial repair. For example, a technician can damage the battery or damage other components of the smartphone.

Also, Apple experts noticed that autofocus may not work on non-original camera modules or there may be problems with the functioning of third-party software. The customer support page indicates that unofficial repair notices may appear on iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPhone 12 mini.

The iPhone operating system can determine the authenticity of not only cameras, but also other components of the device. Earlier in iOS, there was a function to detect non-original display and battery.
