Strategic bombers of the US Air Force (Air Force) B-52H Stratofortress have worked out cruise missile strikes against targets in Russia. This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) of Russia Sergei Surovikin, RIA Novosti reports.

The drills were practiced on 31 August, he said. Three American bombers took off from the British Fairford airbase and flew over the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, the Baltic countries to the area of the Estonian Tapa training ground and back over the Baltic and North Seas.

“In our assessment, during this event, the B-52H crews practiced reaching the line of using cruise missiles with a simulated missile strike at targets in the Kaliningrad region and other western regions of our country,” Surovikin said.

In early September, it was reported that two US Air Force B-52H bombers flew over Ukrainian airspace near Crimea as part of a regular mission to monitor the Black Sea. The fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces, according to unofficial data, could not rise to intercept, since the American aircraft were in the Ukrainian airspace.

In August, the United States completed joint aerodynamic tests of the B-52H Stratofortress with a pair of AGM-183A Air Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) hypersonic aeroballistic missiles, which President Donald Trump called “super duper missiles.”
