The Kuibyshevsky District Court of St. Petersburg has appointed an additional historical and cultural expertise on the claim of city rights defenders against the KGIOP regarding the Okhtinsky Cape.

Earlier, archaeologist Pyotr Sorokin asked Smolny to recognize the remains of the Swedish fortress Landskrona as a cultural heritage site. In the spring of this year, public figures went to court to oblige the KGIOP to consider Sorokin's proposal, writes Kommersant.

The historical and cultural examination appointed in June did not satisfy the court due to the incorrectness of the research area and the incompleteness of the materials studied. For this reason, it was decided to appoint another expert examination.

Lawsuits on the Okhtinsky Cape also took place in the city court, which in June 2021 put an end to the contestation of the boundaries of the protected zone of the cultural heritage site.

A significant part of the cape is now owned by Gazprom Neft. The company intends to create a business center on the territory with public spaces and a landscape park, while the protected areas will become part of this zone.

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to study the possibility of creating an archaeological museum on the Okhta Cape. For this, a working group was formed, which included representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Smolny, Gazprom Neft, the leadership of the largest museums, as well as archaeologists, including Pyotr Sorokin.

The owner of the site and the authorities of St. Petersburg have already agreed that 1.5 thousand m2 in the future public and business complex will be allocated for museum functions.
