A photo of an unknown Chinese experimental tank has been posted online. It used American design solutions.
Experts differ on the type of tank. Someone thinks that this is a type of medium Type 59 or its further development – Type 69. Someone says that this is a modernized version of the Type 62, also known as the WZ-131.
On the base vehicle, the tank in the photo has a modified chassis. It used design solutions that were used on American light tanks. In particular, these are new tracks, five small-diameter track rollers and three support rollers on each side. In addition, a more powerful engine was installed on the car. At the same time, the exhaust pipes were brought to the starboard side. As for the cannon, its length was increased. A laser rangefinder and a night infrared sight with a backlight searchlight were added to the gunner.
The tank was not mass-produced.
