Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that the government urgently allocated almost 500 million rubles from the budget to solve the visa difficulties of athletes. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to Chernyshenko, now the formation of the national team is at the final stage, in the expanded list – more than 600 people in 13 sports, at the moment Russia has received 218 quotas out of 261 possible.
“We, of course, have certain circumstances related to the fact that to some countries to participate in the qualifying stage, for example, to America, in order to obtain a visa, you need to fly to third countries where there are visa centers. Therefore, the government urgently allocated almost half a billion rubles so that our collections could fly and receive a visa. This creates inconvenience and interferes with the training process. But difficulties make us stronger, we will overcome this too, and we will still win, ”he is sure.
At the end of January, the list will be fully formed based on the results of the final performances, Chernyshenko noted. “And I think that we will go to Beijing with the largest possible team,” he added.
