The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has supported the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan for the period until 2030. It provides for the reduction of energy consumption in the country and a number of other measures.
This decision was made by the government at today's meeting. Energy Minister German Galushchenko noted that the plan was developed in pursuance of the Association Agreement with the EU and is aimed at introducing European norms in the field of energy efficiency.
The plan defines a national energy efficiency goal in Ukraine until 2030: primary energy consumption in Ukraine should decrease by 22.3%, and final – by 17.1%.
– Primary and final consumption electricity in Ukraine in 2030 should not exceed 91.5 million tons and 50.5 million tons of oil equivalent. That is, the primary is the so-called unconverted energy (oil, gas, coal), and the final is the consumed energy (for example, electricity), & # 8212; explained Galushchenko.
The Minister specified that the National Plan also provides for a reduction in carbon emissions by 56.6 million tons.
According to Galushchenko, a number of measures are planned to increase the level of energy efficiency in various sectors of the Ukrainian economy (speech is about transport, energy, industry, housing and public sector).
These measures include: stimulating energy efficiency in industrial enterprises and residential buildings; energy labeling and ecodesign; simplification of administrative procedures for energy efficiency in homes; full commercial metering of heat and water; awareness raising among energy consumers, etc.
Individual activities are scheduled to begin in 2022.
December 1 President Vladimir Zelensky announced the start of the Great Thermal Modernization in 2022. The plans are to insulate thousands of multi-storey buildings, hospitals, schools and kindergartens.
As Prime Minister Denis Shmygal explained, the goal of the program to insulate apartment buildings is to reduce heat loss and gas consumption. This, in turn, will help reduce the amount in utility bills of Ukrainians.
