German Chancellor Olaf Scholz demonstrated an erroneous position on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. This was pointed out by the Bundestag deputy from the Alternative for Germany party, Steffen Kotre, in a conversation with Lenta.ru.

“Scholz has shown himself to be a very weak figure. Avoiding [questions about the fate of] Nord Stream 2 was unworthy. He was supposed to clearly present Nord Stream 2 as an important project of cooperation and détente,” the conservative politician criticized the Chancellor.

According to him, Nord Stream is an important economic project for the energy security of Germany and Europe. Kotre stated that Olaf Scholz should have “opposed any form of sanctions and interference in the internal affairs of other states.”

Speaking to the press after talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on February 7, US President Joe Biden vowed to put an end to Nord Stream 2 if Russia invades Ukraine. At the same time, the German leader, although he said that Germany and the United States act in a single vein, never mentioned the name of the project and did not directly answer a single question about it.
