The British Mint will extract gold from parts of smartphones
The Royal Mint of Great Britain intends to extract gold from the components of used smartphones, laptops and TVs within the framework of environmental policy using the latest technologies, writes The Daily Telegraph.
Experiments on the extraction of precious metals have already made it possible to obtain gold with a purity of 999.9. Improvements in the process are expected to allow the recovery of other valuable metals: silver, palladium and copper.
Mint director Anne Jessop said the use of new technologies could help solve one of the world's greatest environmental problems.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation will play out a license for the largest gold deposit in the country, which is located in Khakassia.
In addition, until the end of 2021, licenses will be distributed for the development of other large deposits, including in Yakutia, which contains 1.5 tons of placer gold.
The winner of the auction will be the participant who offered the maximum one-time payment for the right to work on the site.
