British Defense Minister Ben Wallace assessed the results of his meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and said that there were “neither deaf nor blind” in their conversation. He is quoted by TASS.
The head of the British Ministry of Defense slightly paraphrased the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after his meeting with British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss. Then Lavrov said that between Russia and the West it turns out to be a conversation between the dumb and the deaf.
“I will say that in our conversation [with Shoigu] there were absolutely no blind or deaf people. As defense ministers, we are responsible for the consequences of what happens in the event of a conflict,” Wallace said. He assessed the discussion as “constructive and frank” and added that he hoped for an improvement in the atmosphere and de-escalation after the meeting with the Russian Defense Minister.
British Defense Minister Ben Wallace arrived in Moscow on Friday, February 11. Earlier, The Times reported, citing sources, that the main purpose of Wallace's visit was to “make it clear that the invasion of Ukraine would be costly” for Russia.
