A Reddit user shared a story about how she thought about canceling her own wedding due to one request from the groom's father. She explained that she had invited her sister to play the bridesmaid role. However, the future father-in-law, who does not approve of the girl's lifestyle, demanded that his daughter be made a bridesmaid.

According to the bride, she and her older sister are very close. “My sister works in marketing and promotion, so her Instagram account looks like she’s having fun all the time,” the narrator explained. At the same time, the heroine of the story assured that in ordinary life her relative is an extremely calm and balanced person.

The girl added that her sister's fiance works as a DJ. For this reason, his social media pages also look like he spends all his time in nightclubs. That is why the future father-in-law of the author of the post is sure that her sister and fiance do not work and lead a riotous lifestyle. “He thinks they will be bad for my marriage,” she said.

“My sister and her fiance earn good money, so it’s foolish to judge them for their work and think that their social networks are their daily life,” the bride complained. In addition, she noted that her sister has two higher educations and is receiving a master's degree.

However, the groom's father is sure that his daughter should be the bridesmaid at the wedding. The bridegroom did not approve of the choice of the narrator either. However, according to the girl, if she refuses her sister in this role at the wedding, both the relative herself and other members of their family will be very upset. “I have a feeling that if my future spouse does not support me, we need to either run away together, or cancel our wedding,” she admitted.

“If your fiancé is not on your side, it's a huge red flag,” one user commented on the post. According to most commentators, a girl should seriously consider whether she really wants to marry someone who does not support her decision. Many also wrote to the bride that, in their opinion, the father has no right to interfere with the organization of their wedding and dictate his own terms regarding who to make the bridesmaid.
