Moscow. January 18. INTERFAX.RU – The bodies of three dead sailors from the sunken ship Arvin were found as of Monday morning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reports, citing data from the Turkish side.

“According to the Turkish authorities, as of 10:00 on January 18, six crew members were rescued (five citizens of Ukraine and one citizen of the Russian Federation), the bodies of three dead sailors were found (the procedure for their identification continues),” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Monday.

The rescued were hospitalized in the local hospital in the city of Bartin. The search and rescue operation continues.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey and consular officers arrived in Bartin to provide the affected Ukrainians with consular assistance and coordinate interaction with the Turkish competent authorities on the spot.

According to the Ukrainian Embassy in Turkey, Ukrainian sailors rescued from the sunken ship Arvin were discharged from the hospital.

According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, on January 17, the ship Arvin sank off the coast of Bartin province (Turkey) (IMO number: 8874316, flag of Palau). There were 12 crew members on board, including ten citizens of Ukraine and, as Rosmorrechflot reported, two citizens of the Russian Federation. According to reports, the owner of the sunken ship is the Ukrainian company Arvin Shipping LTD.

According to preliminary information, the ship sank due to a severe storm.
