Aleksey Arestovich, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, spoke about this today at a briefing.
– The biggest danger is now developing from the direction of Dymer-Ivankov. This is northwest of Kiev . There are already fighting in the areas of the settlements of Gostomel, Vorzel and Bucha. Russian troops will try to advance, but there our airborne mechanized units put up a reliable barrier, several enemy helicopters and at least one column of military equipment were destroyed. He stressed that Kiev is preparing for defense .
In the Chernihiv region , according to Arestovich, our troops stopped the enemy's advance. Now there are no active actions, the enemy is accumulating reserves.
A similar situation is in the Sumy region . There the enemy is also accumulating reserves, regrouping and preparing for an attempt at a further offensive.
“The defenses are securely held there, we can worry less about these areas than others,” Arestovich assured.
He added that the city of Kharkov is holding out, in the morning they repelled another attack, an attempted offensive.
Ukrainian military personnel are also holding out in the zone of the Joint Forces Operation . Now the enemy is practically not advancing there, artillery “duels” are taking place, sabotage groups are operating.
– As for Melitopol , the situation there is ambiguous. On the outskirts of the city there are Russian troops that have passed from Crimea, but the rest is held by the Ukrainian military, who hold the defense, do not allow to move further towards Mariupol. The command is aware of this situation and is taking certain measures there to neutralize a possible breakthrough towards Mariupol,” Arestovich emphasized.
In the Kherson region , Russian troops are trying to cross the Dnieper River. The enemy is looking for a way after the bridge was destroyed.
– Our troops are holding defenses on the right bank, the situation is under control. And for now, it makes no sense to say that the enemy has broken through there or is advancing further, ”Arestovich said.
He clarified that several air strikes were carried out in the morning, including on Kiev . Ukrainian air defense forces shot down at least two cruise missiles flying to the capital, one Su-27 aircraft. The pilot was captured and is being interrogated.
There were also attacks on the airport in the city of Rivne and the airfield in Belaya Tserkov, as well as on Vasilkov. We are talking about one or two missiles that were aimed at these settlements.
