Moscow. August 7. INTERFAX.RU – A bat that flew 2,018 kilometers from London to the Pskov region died after being attacked by a cat, BBC News reports.
A wounded female forest bat weighing 8 grams ended up in a bat rehabilitation center, but they could not save her. On the wing of the individual was the London Zoo mark, which was installed in 2016.
The longest recorded trip of the forest bat is now the flight from Latvia to Spain at 2,224 kilometers. At the same time, the dead mouse turned out to be the record holder for the longest flight among British relatives.
Bats conservationists in the UK point out that the detection of forest bats in Russia is essential for understanding migration routes and the impact of climate change on them. In total, 2,600 individuals of the forest bat were registered in the country for further study.
