Moscow. October 1st. INTERFAX.RU – In Russia, within the framework of the federal scientific and technical program for the development of genetic technologies, a base of genetic information will be created, said Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.
“The issue of creating a national genetic information base is being worked out, where all information, scientific research in those areas that are now relevant and priority for the country will be concentrated,” Golikova said at a press conference on Friday.
Golikova clarified that the issue of creating the center is being worked out jointly with the national research center “Kurchatov Institute”, which is the head organization of the federal program.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the main directions of the genetic development program are determined: biosafety, technologies for medicine, agriculture and industrial microbiology.
Golikova also said that this year, within the framework of the program and in accordance with the law on biosafety, a “complete inventory of bioresource collections” was carried out. “There are now more than 100 of them, these are both ordinary collections and with a high level of pathogenic danger,” she said.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that 127 billion rubles will be allocated for the program for the development of genetic technologies, which began in 2019 and will last until 2027, of which 111.5 billion is from the federal budget.
More than 100 organizations subordinate to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, Rospotrebnadzor are involved in the program, as well as Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University.
