The authorities will conduct unscheduled checks of companies after personal data leaks

The Ministry of Digital Development has prepared a draft order on the introduction of unscheduled inspections of compliance with legislation on the processing of personal data, which will be carried out by Roskomnadzor. According to the proposal, such checks will become possible if more than ten messages about the distribution of databases of any company on the Internet are received within six months.

“The ministry proposes to establish indicators that will indicate the risk of violating the mandatory requirements for control over the processing of personal data. So, if within six months more than ten messages are received about the distribution on the Internet of databases of personal data belonging to any company, Roskomnadzor will be able to conduct unscheduled inspections of compliance with the legislation on the processing of personal data, ”the document says.

According to the federal law of July 27, 2006 152-FZ “On personal data”, such is any information relating to a specific or determined on the basis of such information an individual (subject of personal data). Personal data includes information such as name, gender, date and place of birth, place of residence, education.

As VTsIOM found out, three quarters of Russians are sure that their personal data is not protected from leaks. Many of them – about 40% – do not understand how attackers can use personal information.
