Kazakhstan will start vaccination against coronavirus with the Russian drug “Sputnik V” from February 1. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the republic Askar Mamin, Kazakhstan Today reports.
“I instruct: the Ministry of Health, together with akimats (regional executive authorities. – RBC ), to ensure the readiness of medical organizations for the start of mass vaccination of the population from February 1,” he said.
Vaccination will be done on a voluntary basis. Before the vaccination, a medical examination of each patient is organized for the presence of contraindications.
Vulnerable population groups have a priority right to a free vaccine in Kazakhstan, the newspaper writes. These include health workers, teachers, the police, people with certain chronic conditions, and staff who work with patients in medical and social institutions.
Kazakhstan will create electronic vaccination passports for those who received the vaccine. As the Minister of Health Alexei Tsoi pointed out, this will help ensure the free movement of vaccinated people during the restrictions due to coronavirus.
The Prime Minister of the country added that now Kazakhstan is undergoing quality certification of the Sputnik V vaccine. The Kazakh authorities signed an agreement with RDIF for its delivery in August. In January, a plant for the production of Sputnik V was put into operation on the territory of the republic.
