The special envoy of the president and former Russian defense minister Sergei Ivanov for the first time named the cost of developing the latest weapons in the country. This was announced on Thursday, February 11, by RBC in its Telegram channel.

According to Ivanov, we are talking about the Avangard hypersonic missile system, the Peresvet laser complex and the Poseidon underwater nuclear drone. The work on their creation was carried out for ten years and cost the state 10-20 billion rubles a year, the official said.

“For the Armed Forces [this amount] with a trillion dollar budget now is an almost imperceptible expense,” Ivanov stressed.

In March 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the country's promising superweapon: the RS-28 Sarmat strategic missile system, the Burevestnik cruise missile of virtually unlimited range, the Poseidon unmanned submarine, the Kinzhal aviation missile system, and the missile system “Avangard” with a hypersonic gliding winged unit and a combat laser installation “Peresvet”.
