The Austrian Economic Union called on the country's Minister of Health, Wolfgang Mückstein, to recognize vaccination certificates as the Russian Sputnik V. Otherwise, Austria faces a shortage of labor, according to the union. TASS writes about it.
Basically, we are talking about workers from Hungary, Romania and Poland. Kurt Egger, general secretary of the union and deputy of the Austrian National Council from the Austrian People's Party, explained: foreigners in different regions of the country face problems due to the need to constantly present a negative test result for coronavirus at the workplace.
“This frightening situation makes Austria unattractive as a place of work for many and further exacerbates the labor shortage… In order not to further fuel massive labor shortages, we must make it easier, not harder, for foreign workers,” Egger stressed.
In the tourism sector, such restrictions will affect almost 34,000 workers, construction — 25,000, and in the care of the elderly and people with disabilities — 11,000.
On February 5, the law on compulsory vaccination against COVID-19 came into force in Austria. But the decision of the Ministry of Health with a list of recognized vaccines did not include the Russian Sputnik V.
