The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) asked politicians not to interfere in the organization of the country's defense, except in those places that are determined by law. The role of “local leaders” was indicated by the country's Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov, according to the department's website.
“I urge you (politicians heading local and regional administrations – Lenta.ru note ) to refrain from actions and statements that politicize the organization of territorial defense. We are talking about the most important thing – the protection of our country. There is no place for PR and distortion. We must all work together for the interests of Ukraine, each within the limits of his authority, “Reznikov said. According to the minister, such initiatives only prevent the Armed Forces of Ukraine from fulfilling their duty, violating the vertical of power in defense matters.
Earlier, the announcement of the creation of the headquarters of the territorial defense forces was made by the mayor of Kiev, Vitaliy Klitschko. The politician met with representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine, city police and other power structures. Representatives of the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were also at the meeting, according to the portal of the Ukrainian capital.
Reznikov expects from civil officials, including Klitschko, much less enthusiasm. “City and village heads, local government in general, contribute to the provision of an adequate material base. There should be premises, electricity, water, heat, clean streets, other related issues should be resolved, ”the minister explained. In his explanations, Reznikov relied on legislation.
On December 27, political expert Aleksey Feshchenko said that Ukraine “is constantly striving for where they are not asked.” The political scientist urged Ukrainians to believe in their own strength, and not try to join different blocs and alliances.
