Visitors can see the exhibition “The Life and Death of the Caesars in Rome.”

The Vatican Museum has opened the ancient Roman necropolis Via Triumphalis to visitors for the first time. This is the so-called City of the Dead.

This was reported by Euro News.

Previously, burials were available exclusively to certain groups of scientists and specialists. However, now everyone can see the historical values. Visitors can enter through the new Porta Santa Rosa and see the exhibition “The Life and Death of the Caesars in Rome.”

“The archaeological area of approximately 1000 square meters is located along a segment of the ancient Via Triumphala, which was originally located outside the city walls. The necropolis was originally excavated in 1956 during the construction of the Vatican car park. Further discoveries in 2003, made during the construction of the car park, revealed the site of Santa Rose, who was recently linked to a previous find,” the newspaper writes.

They also added that the tombs, dating back to the 1st-4th centuries AD, mostly contain the remains of “slaves, freedmen, artisans of the city of Rome.”

Let us remind you that on Sunday, November 19, one of the famous hats of Napoleon Bonaparte was sold at auction for a record almost two million euros.
